The Nebraska Department of Natural Resources is one of several resources agencies represented in the Resources Tent at Husker Harvest Days, an annual agriculture event held in September near Grand Island, Nebraska. The three-day event attracts thousands of visitors from Nebraska and surrounding states and provides a one stop location to view and purchase many agricultural and ranch related items ranging from crop seed to new equipment and have an opportunity to do it all, and more, in one location. The event is an excellent opportunity for DNR staff to meet one-on-one with people who make their living utilizing Nebraska's land and water resources. Its provides an opportunity to speak with several thousand individuals visiting the tent, answering questions about the agency and it's programs or listening to visitors concerns about problems effecting them and the state's natural resources. The past several years DNR staff have had a data base for registered water wells in Nebraska at their table. Visitors to the tent could check their water wells to make sure they are properly registered. The agency along with numerous other local, state, and federal resource agencies continue to learn from the visitors to the Resources Tent every year. |
