The digitized route graphics were then placed into Intergraph's MGE format, and checked against the corresponding construction plans and survey records to verify accuracy. 2) Within MGE, the route graphics were incorporated as elements into a design file, which allows attribute linkage to relational database records. A universe list file was then built from the design file to serve as a reference for information about the attribute linkage of the elements. After the universe list file was built, it was analyzed to ensure that the attribute linkage information was correct, and that all graphic elements in the design file were accounted for. Once this was done, the graphical linework was cleaned and edited to confirm topological accuracy. Following graphical cleanup, a feature table was created for the purpose of integrating graphic elements, as state highway features, along with associated database tables, which store all attribute information about the features. 3) A universe list file was built from the state highway features table to serve as a reference for the attribute linkage information of the state highway feature graphics. The feature graphics were then processed to generate and validate a dynamic segmentation control network consisting of the beginning and ending control points for each route feature. 4) The coordinates of the beginning and ending control points were placed into a control point data base using a customized shell script. Information from the Integrated Highway Inventory data base was used to create coordinates for intermediate control points found within each route. These coordinates were also added to the control point data base. 5) The universe list file was re-built to reflect changes to the state highway features and the addition of control points. After re-building, it was re-analyzed to be sure that all features and points were updated correctly. 6) The features and points were then modified, as needed, to accurately reflect graphical representation. After graphical modification, the universe list file was re-built and re-analyzed to account for all features and points. A final generation and validation process was run to produce a completed dynamic segmentation control network of linear features and control points with attribute linkage for the state highway
