2001 ICE JAM SUMMARY

LOWER PLATTE RIVER SYSTEM

23 March 2001

LOWER PLATTE RIVER BASIN

Moderating weather has freed the Lower Platte River Basin from potentially damaging ice formations. There will be no further ice jam summaries for the year 2001.

A big debt of gratitude is due those dedicated observers who took the time to check rivers and file reports. This coordinated preparedness activity has been conducted each year for the past seven years. The information reported allowed river interests to evaluate relative hazards and to prepare for coordinated disaster operations. This information has also been recorded in the Department of Natural Resources Data Bank and is available for future preparedness planning. Once again, thanks to all for a job well done.
