Lower Platte River Basin

Summary Lower Platte River Ice Report

Week 5-February 13, 1998

So far the recent warmer days, coupled with the lack of freezing precipitation, the Lower Platte River System is open and running smoothly. Some floating ice and traces of shore ice are present. River levels have dropped and sandbars are visible again.

A long spell of cold weather would be necessary in order to cause another ice threat. Accordingly, the ice report will be suspended for the rest of this year. If reports are required again this season spotters will be notified by telephone

We would like to thank all those who participated in the ice condition reporting program, this is an important emergency preparedness measure.
