Week 8 - Summary Ice Report

Moderating weather has largely freed the Lower Platte River system from potentially damaging ice formations. Some ice cakes still remain on sandbars and along shorelines, but the threat is over.

We would like to thank all those who participated in the ice reporting program. The information reported allowed river interests to evaluate relative hazards and to prepare for coordinated disaster operations. This information has also been recorded in the Natural Resources Commission Data Bank and will be available for future preparedness planning. With your assistance a similar operation is planned for next year.
